Dixie Chicks - Cowboy Take Me Away

Ahh... The Dixie Chicks... They were on top of the world in 2000, when they hit #1 on the Billboard Country charts with Cowboy Take Me Away. And, the song was #4 on the Billboard Country charts for the entire year. Unless you've been hiding under a rock, you know about the controversy that has surrounded the band every since lead singer Natalie Maines said in a concert in 2003, "Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas." This one statement sent the band down a path that they'll never be able to change.

They were and still are shunned from almost all country music radio stations, and they are now almost entirely focused on their new pop audience. It's a shame. I really enjoyed their music, but I have to agree with the populace. I did not agree with what she said. That being said, unlike country radio, I will continue to feature their videos. Think about it. I didn't exactly condone the behavior of many 80's rock bands, but I still loved their music. Enjoy the video!
