In 2000, John Michael Montgomery took The Little Girl all the way to #1 on the Billboard Hot Country charts. The song featured Allison Krauss singing background vocals. The song was based on an urban legend of a little girl whose abusive father killed her drug addict mother and then killed himself, and she goes on to live with another "mom and dad" and lives a better life. It's a powerful song and a good video. Enjoy!
